Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized on December 18, 1966 as a mission
congregation with six communicant members. On January 20, 1980 we became a self-supported
congregation.
Our gracious Lord has blessed the congregation which now has about 150 communicant members
and over 200 souls. Throughout the years since 1966, the true Word of God has been preached by
four resident pastors and five vacancy pastors. Timothy R. Soukup, the current pastor, was
installed on June 30, 1996.
A master plan for future expansion was approved in September 1996. Included in the plan
is a new sanctuary, a multipurpose building, a new school, and a remodeled fellowship hall.
The new school addition was completed and dedicated on August 30, 1998. The new sanctuary was
recently completed and will be dedicated on January 27, 2008.
The education and fellowship building was dedicated on September 5, 1982. Our Lord’s
command to ‘Feed my lambs’ is carried out in our Christian Day School which opened on August 27, 1984
with nine students in kindergarten through grade six. Currently over 40 students are enrolled from
kindergarten through grade eight.
Members from our congregation have started new congregations in Austin, Fredericksburg, and the
nucleus of members of Cross of Christ in Universal City was from Our Savior. Spreading the Gospel
through outreach to the community is carried out through programs including our Christian Day School,
he Jesus Cares program for the developmentally disabled, vacation bible school, as well as a
host of others.
